Welcome to Void Strife, an action-packed roguelike where the Pets O' War corporation has decided to strap weapons onto cybernetically enhanced weapons to raise money for the range of different shareholders who provide the animals supplements throughout their runs in the Stadium! After all, the more crowd enjoyment there is, the more money Pets O' War makes...

Key Features:

  • Unique skill tree system for weapon upgrades
  • Dynamic music that adapts to gameplay
  • Tons of unique items provided by the shareholders!
  • Diverse cast of animals

Each run of Void Strife will be very different to each other. The items that shareholders will decide to offer you will be random, and might sometimes even make your run... more interesting rather than better. The shareholders will be like your guardian angels, except they will not be guarding anybody - they're here for entertainment after all! However, the more interesting things happen, the bigger the crowd enjoyment... and they'll SCREAM for you!

You first start the game with the horse. The horse is enhanced with a titanium skeleton and a fibre optic nervous system, granting it special toughness against ballistics of all kinds. This is the default character, and there will be many more to collect, like the rocket raccoon, or the minigun cow.

In Void Strife, make each weapon your own! As you level up your profile, you will collect a vast array of weapons, each with its own unique playstyle and skill tree. Level up your weapons to unlock new abilities and branches, allowing you to customize your playstyle to suit your preferences. And with the ability to freely respec your points at no cost, you can experiment with different builds and playstyles without fear of making a wrong choice.

But it's not just about the weapons. Armors play a crucial role in your survival, with full sets granting additional stat bonuses that increase as you rank them up. Collecting and optimizing your gear is a game in itself, and expect to spend hours theorycrafting and experimenting to gain the best edge against your adversaries.

I like the idea of this game, and it looks like it could turn into something worthwhile. It's hard to give feedback on something that's so early in development, but here's some notes I took after playing for a while:

* Need adjustable crosshair size, because it's tiny on a 4k monitor. Adjustable colour would be good too.

* The game should pause when looking at the map etc. It's no fun being shot while trying to navigate.

* Health regen is far too fast. Having any at all makes you effectively invulnerable.

* You can pick an already equipped weapon as the reward when exiting a level, which removes it, potentially leaving you without a weapon.

* Bosses need to be much harder. They don't have much in the way of weaponry, and don't chase you if you snipe them from out of range.

* Some weapons collide with your own sprite, e.g. the shotgun projectiles are blocked by your hind legs.

* If you pick up the Bionic Tentacles, then the next time you change level it will get stuck on the loading screen.

* It's not clear what weapons count as primary or secondary before picking them up.

* Pressing up when hacking should go back through the command history, so if you typo a file name, you can correct it rather than having to type it all again.

Pretty cool lil demo, though easy it's very fun and visually appealing.

4.6/5.

Best of luck, Torus! cheers.

thank you sicave! Do you have any feedback I can act upon? I know it's a bit jank especially controlling it but the next update the dungeons will be more open so you don't get stuck in places... A horse is quite big after all.

Just interaction prompts having more range.

other than that, more of what's there and maybe increasing the pace of everything? also don't know what's up with the big counter machines.

(+1)

yeah interaction prompts work weird currently im in the process of remaking them now :D

Do you mean the bosses? They're supposed to be there to give you currency which you will be able to spend when the new item gaining system comes in
